Short Post and a Giveaway

First off, I just wanted to mention a giveaway for all of you bookworms out there. Molly at I'm a Sleeper Baker is giving away a book called "God Never Blinks 50 Lessons on Life's Little Detours". I like to read inspirational books every now and then, sometimes they are pretty cool. Go check out her blog and giveaway.

Training: I did my first Brick on Wednesday. For those of you who don't know what this is, it is a bike ride and then a run following the ride. Why would I put myself through this torture? I would like to do a sprint triathlon this summer, just for the heck of it as long as I don't kill myself trying to run my marathon. This was my first time riding the bike outside since last summer and ouch! I put in 9 miles in half an hour and then got off and ran (jogged). My legs felt a little wobbly, but I made it.

No long run this weekend, since it is rest and recovery week, but looking at the 20 miler next week and Beth, I'm NOT looking forward to this one either!

Gratitude-I haven't done this in awhile:
1.) March Madness. I just have to say, since I'm a Mizzou fan-I HATE KU!
2.) Green beer on St Patty's day (or any day for that matter)
3.) Sports Massages
4.) Rest and Recovery weeks
5.) My trash men. They had to haul away a huge bag of dog poop today since I haven't scooped in a while. I'm sure they hate me, but I'm thankful for them!

Good luck to all of you racing this weekend. GO JILL!

Hi Tara,
Way to finish your first brick!! I have to admit...I was a dork and did not know what that was:) Thanks for sharing! I could do that...no swimming involved! I hope that you enjoy your weekend Tara!!

Wow! A whole bag of it! I am glad you thanked them.

I am UW Husky. However, after living in Topeka, KS. I developed an appreciation for KU and KState both. What really happened to fellow Seattleite Quin Snyder at Mizzou? It must have been bad, because I don't think anyone knows where he is - anyone?

Have a great weekend Tara! Enjoy some rest.

Thanks Julie! You have a great weekend as well.

Slomo-Ahhh, Snyder. There have been lots of rumors, one being that he was messing around with a players girlfriend, but I think that he was fired because he just couldn't bring the Tigers to a championship. Man, Mizzou had some troubling years back then w/ the whole Ricky Clemons fiasco, etc.

Have a great weekend!

At least they're not hauling away your poop.

Great job on the brick. The only time I did one of those was when I did my first and only triathlon. I guess I should do another one or two to prepare for the Longmont tri in June. But I'm so busy trying to get in these damn long runs. And 20 miles - where in the hell am I supposed to run that with all of this snow? I'm not Jill - I just don't think I can do 20 on the mill. Maybe I'll just drink beer instead.

Thanks for the sweet comments. :) I will definitely be hitting you up for some healthy recipes.. a part of my diet is still JUNK and that does not make me feel good, inside or out!

So my dad/extended family are from Missouri and we usually root for Mizzou as well but I also somehow grew up a KU fan... and a Texas fan. And even worse, I'm from Oklahoma and I hate OU! LOL! I'm a confused and wandering Big 12 fanatic!

Have you tried a duathlon yet? Lots of them, including shorties, in the Denver area.

Ah, rest and recovery. My two favorite words this week. Enjoy because it sounds like you have a big week next week. Nice job on the brick...and thanks for explaining it, I had NO idea what that was but everyone always says they're doing a "brick" and it just sounds kind of confusing...
Happy Weekend, Tara!

Brick. I am always learning new running/training terms and tips from all these blogs. :)
Good luck on the 20-miler.

Great job on finishing your first brick (I totally didn't know what that meant) :) ...that would probably be because I never even came close to trying to do something like that!

"Brick." I'm glad you explained that one. I feel your bike pain...Once a year I ride 25 miles for a MS fundraiser. My legs and ass always hate me afterward. I'm with Julie-I could do that since there's no swimming involved. Speaking of "brick," I swim like one! I could never try a "tri."

Tara,

Ohhh, bricks are hard, but fun too! I have a couple of duathlons I am doing so sometimes I switch bike-run to run-bike, it's all hard! Good for you, Cheers!

Nice job on the brick. I heard this term for the first time last week and had to Google it. (Not sure who's blog I saw it on.)

Good luck on the 20 miler this weekend.

Thank GOD your trash man came and got rid of that horrid smell you had to endure!!! I have found that owning a dog does that to you, though. Thanks for the shout-out....race went okay considering all. And I'm just going to say this, since it's my alma mater and all - GO NORTHERN IOWA PANTHERS!!!! oh, and btw, nice brick girlie...you ROCK!!
