Run instead of Work....sounds good

I just couldn't make it in to work today. I felt like running instead, so I called and told my boss I wouldn't be in, but I would check e-mails. I'm such a liar.

I went out to Deer Creek Canyon to try out my new Salomon trail running shoes. Yes....they totally rock!!! I'm not sure how many miles I put in, but we (the dog and I) ran for a little over an hour. I had to pick my daughter up at 12:00 and take her to the airport, so I knew I couldn't stay out there very long. It felt good to get out and put some miles in. Lately I have been biking more then running, which is pretty unusual for me. Need to get back at it!

I'm ready for the weekend! No kid (in Missouri), no dog (at the doggy camp), just me, boyfriend, and our bikes.

Cooking Anyone?????

Does anyone else find it totally relaxing to just come home and have a glass of wine or beer and cook dinner? Ok....just me? Yeah...I'm a nerd. I'm making jambalaya and biscuits tonight and having a glass of Killian's Irish Red. Mmmmmmm.......yummy. I'm cutting up veggies and cooking the meat right now. I might have put too much cayene pepper on the chicken (made me hiccup when I tasted it), but that's ok, I like it HOT! Haven't had Killian's in a while (not my most favorite beer), but it sure does taste good for a change. Anyone have any good recipe's for me? I'm always looking out for something new to try.

Working for the Weekend

Not much has been going on lately. I've gotten up the last couple of mornings and rode my bike with Rick. He has been riding to work, so I travel with him for the fun of it. It's nice to get up at the butt crack of dawn and get a work out in. I have had so much more energy lately since we have been doing this.

I am ready for the weekend! Seems like it will never get here. My daughter is going back to Missouri to visit her friends, so Rick and I are going to go explore western Colorado. We haven't had a chance yet to just get out and see the sights. We are aiming for some mountain biking at Fruita and Grand Junction. Can't wait!

Oh.....on Sunday, we went exploring out at ElDorado Canyon with the dog. It was a gorgeous day and there were tons of people out and about. The place was filled with rock climbers and it was very interesting to watch. Not sure that I would ever attempt to do it, but it sure looked like fun! We found a couple of trails to hike/climb (very rocky in some parts) and then decided to go and feed our hungry stomachs. We agreed that it was definetely a place that we would like to return and explore a little more. I recommend checking this park out....very pretty place.

Beautiful Morning!

Another great morning here in Colorado. Rick got up at 5:00 to ride his bike downtown to work, so I thought I would tag along. It's about 17 miles from our house to downtown, so I thought that I would ride about 10 miles out and then the 10 miles back. It was 40 degrees when we started out, but we were dressed for it. Great ride! After my ride, I took the dog for a short run in the park behind our house. She brought her ball along (of course), so I threw it for her a few times. She LOVES her tennis ball.

Well....I suppose I should get ready for work. Ugh.

My new Trek

Last month I broke down and bought a new road bike. I didn't plan on this, well, I can't lie, I've been thinking about this for awhile. Anyway, we signed up for the Copper Triangle in August, so I knew that I needed to get a more comfortable bike. I've been cruising around on a 2001 Lemond Buenes Aires and I couldn't go more then 30-40 miles without my back killing me. I bought the bike on eBay a couple of years back just to see if I would like road biking, so I really just took a guess on the whole size thing. Since I am such a short shit, I really should have bought a WSD, which would be better for my short torso. I didn't know all of this when I bought the Lemond on eBay.

I started looking for a bike at the beginning of April and rode numerous bikes (all pink of course....why is it that every WSD bike's have pinkin it somewhere?) and finally decided on the Trek Madone 5.1 WSD. All of the other bikes that I rode paled in comparison. This bike just had my name written all over it. So of course I HAD to buy it. Who else would want a pink bike with Tara written on it?

I went down to Campus Cycles today to get professionally fitted for it and the only thing that we changed was the seat height. I'm ready to ride!!!

I also heard that Lance Armstrong was at the DU campus for his Livestrong foundation. I really wanted to check this out since it was right down the road from Campus Cycles, but decided not to. It would have been cool to see him though!

Biking at Pine Valley Ranch first blog. Does anyone ever read these things? Who knows......anyway, seems like a good idea. I love to read and write.

Yesterday, was mother's day. What did I do? Went biking of course. My thirteen year old daughter spent the night with a friend, so my boyfriend and I went mountain biking. Fun, fun, fun! Went to Pine Vally Ranch and spent three hours out there. Even took the dog, who kicked my ass for most of the 12 mile ride.

I used to live in Columbia, Mo and mountain biking in Colorado is no Rockbridge. Up, up, up we went for about three miles until we finally leveled out. Did Charlie's Cutoff and then enjoyed a nice downhill before Piper finally decided that she had had enough of trying to keep up with Rick (me too actually). Rick thought that we should give her a break and tried to convince her that she needed some water. Piper was done. I told him to go without me for awhile and that I would let her rest.

She finally rested up and we climbed back up Charlie's Cutoff and down Hownstead. So much fun! Finally met up with Rick, who was wasted, and sped down to the parking lot.

All and all, had a great mother's day, even though Madison elected to spend the night with friends instead of hanging out with me (she thinks I'm a dork).

That's all I've got. Let me know if you are reading this.
